About us and our programme
We are a seaside kindergarten catering for families from diverse cultures from our Petone community. We welcome family involvement in our kindergarten, and we value your ideas and skills. We work to support parents and to connect them with others.
Our vision is that children are nurtured, Te Ao Māori (the Māori world) is embraced and the learning community is inspired. We work together to empower children and to guide their curiosity and decision-making.
Making learning visible is important. We regularly meet to identify children’s learning and discuss opportunities and possibilities for individuals and groups of learners.
We value children’s contributions and celebrate their achievements. We encourage children to communicate with each other in respectful ways.
Ka pu te ruha, ka hao te rangatahi! When the old nets weaken, the new come forward. The next generation.
This whakatauki, or saying, shows how we see our kindergarten as a pace of renewal. It was gifted to us, and keeps us honouring the past while we live in the present and plan for the future.
