About us and our programme

Our early childhood education centre is enhanced by its natural setting. We are energetic and enthusiastic; we have a passion for teaching, for celebrating creativity and for working alongside the community.

We have a unique philosophy composed of eight Te Ao Maori learning principles that encapsulate key learning dispositions and social competencies that are of significant value in our learning community.

Whanaungatanga/relationships that empower and recognise the identity of us all play a significant role in our curriculum. From the initial meeting with families, we aim to develop a reciprocal relationship with child, parent and whānau and intentionally plan for and provide a learning environment that reflects children’s learning passions, supports whanau aspirations, and shows respect for each child’s cultural identity.

Our curriculum is based on the national early childhood curriculum, Te Whariki and the kaupapa or principles of the ‘Enviroschools’ project. Central to our programme is kaitiakitanga or guardianship of te ao/the world, whaka-ute or respect for each other and all things.

We are committed to:

  • Learning together and problem solving.
  • Exploration, investigation and discovery.
  • Development of social skills/social competencies.
  • Being creative, using our imagination and having fun.
