About us and our programme

At Manaia Kindergarten children develop social skills, learn together and develop a sense of fun!

We use the natural environment for learning, and our children investigate and discover and try new things, using their imagination and creativity.

We respond to the interests and needs of each child, and we work in partnership with families. We acknowledge and value the bicultural heritage of New Zealand.

Manaakitanga, (hospitality and generosity) tuakeina/teina (older brother/older sister) relationships and the principle of ako (teaching and learning together) are encouraged and supported. We are committed to providing an environment that acknowledges the bi-cultural heritage of Aotearoa.

Our kindergarten is named for a local chief, and was named in consultation with Rangitane. Previously, we were known as Solway Kindergarten before we moved to the primary school grounds.

We have a close relationship with Masterton primary school next door, and we support a seamless transition to school for our children.
