By Josh Saua - Operations Manager, Le Fale Jobs and Skills Hub.
On Thursday 7 August, Te Puna (at the Whānau Manaaki Porirua Support Office) came alive with connection, ideas and action.
Le Fale Jobs and Skills Hub gathered local employers, business leaders and community groups under one roof, one fale, with a shared purpose: to work together on the challenges we face and the opportunities we can create. From tackling staffing needs to exploring upskilling pathways, the focus was clear – Raise, Train, Sustain.
As a Jobs and Skills Hub, Le Fale is committed to raising potential, training for success and sustaining our community through strong education and employment pathways.
This year, over 20 local businesses registered and more than 50 people took part. Business owners and managers left with a deeper understanding of who Whānau Manaaki is, how their work strengthens our region, and how Le Fale can add real value to their journey.
We were privileged to hear presentations from the Ministry of Social Development, Porirua City Council and Ngāti Toa, each sharing insights to strengthen collaboration between employers and our community.
We’re already looking forward to the next employer event, planned for early in the new year – another chance to come together, share ideas and create opportunities.
