About us and our programme

Wellington South Kindergarten in the heart of Newtown has a diverse learning community. We cater for up to 30 children each day, with most attending three, four or five days.

We visit the local library park regularly, and take older children on school visits. Our four teachers are all qualified and registered.

Children have fun while learning in our engaging environment, which includes sand and water play, bikes and physical challenges.

We set up activities to reflect children’s interests, and include construction, reading, arts and crafts and quiet play. Teachers integrate literacy, numeracy and social skills into the programme in a fun and interactive way.

Te Whāriki, our early childhood curriculum is bicultural and we include Te Ao Māori and Te Reo Maori (Māori language and world view).

We build strong relationship with children and families. We provide a warm and welcoming setting so families have a sense of belonging, and they contribute to our programme. We hold whānau evening each term so families can share a meal and get to know each other.
