About us and our programme
Kia ora from Pukerua Bay Kindergarten.
Our kindergarten caters for children from two to five years and sessions run from 8.30 to 2.30 Monday to Friday.
Our Kindergarten sits in a beautiful natural bush environment, and we are a team strongly committed to providing quality education and care for children. We foster “competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society”, (Te Whāriki, Ministry of Education).
Our philosophy is based on the following values:
- Whanaungatanga; building strong reciprocal relationships with tamariki, whānau and the wider community.
- Mana; upholding individuals’ values and aspirations, respecting each individual identity, showing manaakitanga towards all.
- Quality; ensuring equitable opporutnities and ongoing learning for all.
- Kaitiakitanga; being respectful of our environment, Papatūanuku and learning and caring for our wider world.
- Te Ao Māori; embracing tikanga, acknowledging Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Shared knowledge, being open, embracing and sharing improvement in Te Reo Māori.
- Fun; embracing reasons to celebrate (all celebrations not just cultural celebrations), being happy and taking risks.
- Ako; encouraging and supporting Tuakana-Teina relationships.
A key aspect of our localised curriculum is the ongoing collaboration and connection with whānau, so it’s important to us to foster strong relationships with you and within our community.
