About us and our programme

Waitangirua Kindergarten is a multicultural community of learners, with families from many different cultural backgrounds. Our teachers speak Māori, Samoan, Tokelauan and Cook Island Māori as well as English, and this supports children’s language development and their cultural identity.

Building strong, positive and culturally-sensitive relationships with families/whānau and community is important to us.  Having fun with our children is a must and there are always humorous moments to share and laugh about, so if you want some ‘happy time’ or just want to visit then feel free to do so.

Our programme is flexible, purposeful, stimulating and challenging by following the children’s interests and supporting their learning and other needs. We have a transition to school programme, and a peer reading programme with one of our local schools. We offer kapa haka once a week.
