About us and our programme

At Petone Kindergarten, we provide a safe caring community where children and families feel welcome and respected.

We trust children and we foster their learning by respecting temperaments, dispositions, learning styles, abilities and interests.

Children are supported to develop a strong sense of who they are, and to make choices about their play and learning. Together we discover that learning is fun.

We offer free play sessions where the focus is on following the children’s interests.

Children enjoy a sense of belonging and our kindergarten gives them a ‘place to stand’ or turangawaewae.
