About us and our programme

At Trentham Kindergarten, we come together each day to learn, explore and grow in a vibrant, nurturing environment. Our daily programme includes free play, shared stories, music, kai and routines that help Tamariki feed grounded, connected and ready to learn alongside their peers in a tuakana-teina setting.

We value our localised curriculum and the rich learning opportunities it provides. Excursions into our community, engagement with our natural environment, and experiences that reflect the identities of our Tamariki are woven throughout our programme.

Cultural diversity is celebrated here. Our team is committed to honouring Aotearoa’s bicultural heritage as well as our rich multicultural community; while ensuring it is meaningfully reflected in our teaching practices.

Our programme is designed to build on each tamaiti’s interests, strengths and experiences. We believe learning should be meaningful and responsive. We provide a warm, inclusive environment where children feel safe and supported. Healthy lifestyles are promoted through active play, learning about our environment, and enjoying nutritious kai from our gardens. Our large outdoor space offers endless opportunities for exploration and challenges, featuring gardens and fruit trees.

Our teaching team consists of five fully qualified and registered Kaiako who are dedicated to forming strong, respectful relationships with children and whānau. We value the knowledge you bring about your child and welcome conversations that help us understand their world beyond kindergarten.
