Coming to kindergarten on your child’s enrolled days and times helps them feel settled, connected, and ready to learn. Regular attendance supports strong relationships with kaiako and friends, builds confidence, and helps children enjoy familiar routines outside the home.

Attending regularly also ensures your child can make the most of the learning experiences, social connections, and sense of belonging that kindergarten provides.

Why Attendance Is Important

The Ministry of Education requires children to attend kindergarten on the days and times they are enrolled. Regular attendance helps kindergartens meet funding requirements, enabling us to continue providing high-quality, low-cost early childhood education for our community.

When children do not attend regularly, it can affect the funding kindergartens receive from the Ministry of Education.

If your child is not attending their enrolled hours regularly, we will connect with you to better understand your circumstances and discuss any support that may help. Together, we can explore practical solutions, including reviewing the days and times that best suit your whānau.

If there are any barriers affecting attendance, please speak with your Head Teacher or a member of the kindergarten team.
